Dr Ian Streeter is a Computational Scientist at Edelweiss Connect.

Ian first learnt programming whilst studying for his doctorate degree in chemistry as a way to make numerical predictions of his laboratory experiments. He quickly discovered the power that information technology gives the scientist to make deep and insightful observations from experimental data.

Since then, Ian’s career in programming has spanned the fields of bioinformatics, systems design engineering, and orthopaedics research. He specialises in big data sets: scalable solutions for storing, indexing and annotating data to optimise its potential for analysis.

Ian is passionate about IT infrastructure that can enable simultaneously the scientist working at the bench and the wider global scientific community. He enjoys working closely with scientists to understand the data they produce and from it their analysis and interpretations. He is an IT generalist; equally happy writing front-end or back-end code or managing its deployment.
