Job Title:
Head of Laboratory

Dr Tatyana Doktorova is a Senior Toxicologist and Head of Safety Assessment Laboratory at Edelweiss Connect.

She is a European Registered Toxicologist with a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences and 2 Post-Docs in the field of in vitro Chemical Genomics.

She obtained her Master degree in Pharmacy from the Medical University of Sofia, Bulgaria. In 2007, she started her PhD in the research group of prof. Vera Rogiers (Department of In vitro Toxicology and Dermato-Cosmetology, Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy) at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium. Her doctoral project was part of the 6th Framework project carcinoGENOMICS and was situated in the field of toxicogenomics-based in vitro assays and in vitro alternatives to carcinogenicity testing.

After her PhD, she stayed for 2 years as a post-doctoral researcher at the same department and worked on a number of projects, related to alternative methodologies for hazard assessment. As from 2014, she received a 3 year joint fellowship by the Scientific Institute of Public Health-Belgium and Vrije Universiteit Brussel to develop a novel gene-based assay for in vitro genotoxicity screening. The outcome of the project is currently under commercialization.

Additionally Dr Doktorova holds FELASA C certificate for working with laboratory animals. She has strong knowledge in the field of omics-based technologies, biomarker and pathway discovery of mutagen- and non-mutagen-induced hepatocellular carcinoma. Furthermore, she has extensive background in liver-based in vitro models, in vitro mutagenicity/genotoxicity assays, reporter-based assays, alternative methods for hazard identification. She has hands-on experience with a number of cell-based, immunochemical, and bio-molecular techniques, including but not limited to fluorescence microscopy, immunoblotting, quantitative RT-PCR, fluorescence or luminescence based assays.

Her research efforts have resulted in authorship, co-authorship or senior authorship of more than 20 peer-reviewed scientific publications.
